Mark Hochglaube is board certified in criminal law and has practiced in Harris County and its surrounding area for 18 years. After graduating magna cum laude from the Houston Law Center in 1998, he worked as a state prosecutor. He tried DWIs, drug cases, sex abuse cases, fraud cases and murders. Three years later he left to enter private practice and quickly emerged as one of the county’s rising stars in criminal defense.
Having acquittals for his clients in multiple homicide, rape, drug possession, evading arrest, and theft cases, he continues to fight aggressively for his clients’ due process rights. While in private practice, Mark Hochglaube became involved in establishing a county public defenders office. This was to make sure everyone, even the indigent, get a fair shake from the justice system. Harris County had been the last urban area in the nation without a public defender. Mark was among the most vocal advocates, trying to bring justice to everyone. After sitting on several PDO development committees, Mark was appointed to PDO’s board of directors. He then left private practice to run the office’s fleet of felony trial division lawyers. Supervising a staff of over two dozen criminal defense attorneys, he markedly improved his clients’ outcomes. He established a tradition of excellence in the legal representation of the indigent accused.
